STEWART, Donald William Arthur (1933-2022)

STEWART, Donald William Arthur (1933-2022)

Don Stewart, son of Don and Grace Stewart of Lorne, was enrolled as a boarder at The Geelong College in 1946. He boarded in Mackie and then Warrinn, whilst also part of Calvert House for the House competitions. In his final two years at the school Don was a member of the House of Guilds Council, in charge of General Crafts and later head Storeman. He also participated in the cadets, reaching corporal rank.

After school Don would go on to become a stalwart of the Lorne community. He created Lorne Real Estate (now Great Ocean Road Real Estate). He was also a founding member of the Lorne Surf Lifesaving Club, and one of its first Bronze Medallion squad members. Over the years he was also involved in the local fire brigade, football club and many community causes.

Don’s three sons also attended the college, Ian OGC 1977, Brett OGC 1979 and Scott OGC 1983.

Don passed away 5 January 2022 at Lorne aged 88 years.
