SUTTERBY, Thomas Eli (1892-1948)
Thomas Sutterby was born on 2 October 1892, son of Thomas Herbert Sutterby and Katherine nee Jellett.
He became a day student at Geelong College in 1907, leaving at the end of that same year. His address was given as Sydney Ave, Geelong.
During World War I, he enlisted (No. 180) and served with 1st Australian General Hospital. He was a member of the Troubadours Musical Quartet while at Maribyrnong Camp, and a star performer at concert parties. He embarked from Melbourne on 18 June 1915 on RMS Mooltan for Egypt, then departed there for London in August 1915. He returned to Australia on HMT Derbyshire, embarking on 2 March 1919.
His brothers, Herbert Reginald Sutterby (1899-1955), and Harold Sutterby (1907-1967), were also educated at Geelong College.
