Wayne Symons was born in 1955 to Harry and Thelma of Highton, Geelong. Wayne was enrolled at The Geelong College from Form I in 1967. In 1971 he was on the cross-country team. He was a cadet under officer in 1972 and completed his HSC that same year.

In 1973 he entered the Royal Military College at Duntroon as a cadet. He would go on to a military career, becoming a member of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. He was involved in the training of the Army’s intermediate officer, running simulation systems and tactical training.

Wayne married Cherry and they had two daughters.

Wayne passed away 22 September 2020 aged 65 years.
