THOMAS, Sydney G


'Syd' Thomas coached rowing at the College for many years during the 1950s and 1960s. He coached up until 1962 and then from 1964-1972.

In 1957 Pegasus recorded him as the coach of the Corio Bay Rowing Club's Junior VIII. In 1973, a rowing Pair, one of the last wooden boats purchased by the College was named the 'Syd Thomas' in his honour. This beautifully crafted heirloom boat is still owned by the College and remains one of the iconic vessels of the Geelong College Boat Club.
