THWAITES WING

THWAITES WING

The Northern Wing of the main buildings of the Geelong College were named in 1984 the 'Thwaites Wing' in memory of former College Principal, Dr Peter N Thwaites. The wing includes the buildings on the northern side of the quadrangle and includes the Mathematics Centre.

The Northern Wing of the College evolved in two stages from 1873 onwards. The first stage involved a westward extension of the original George Morrison Building in 1873. This section included the original public entry to the School sometimes referred to as the 'northern entry' or the more populist '1871 entry'. This westward extension was added to in about 1916 when four extra classrooms were added.
