WATT, John Watherston (1890-1964)


Born on 2 November 1890, John Watherston Watt was the son of David Watt and Allison Knox nee Grieve.

He was enrolled as a day student at Geelong College in 1905 with an address at entry of 168 Bellerine Street, Geelong. He is not known as playing in any College 1st sports teams however he later became a stalwart football player in the then Victorian Football League (VFL) known as 'Tiny'. He played 31 games for Geelong in 1909 and 1911-1912; 18 games with Melbourne 1913-1914 and 5 games with St Kilda in 1914.

During World War I, he enlisted (No. 11950) in the AIF on 30 December 1915 and embarked on HMAT A19 Afric on 5 June 1916 to serve as a Driver with the 3rd Division Supply Column, Mechanical; Transport, 26th Australian Supply Column.
