COTO, Dr John Halliday (1912-1962)


Dr John Coto, medical practitioner, the son of Dr Daniel Samuel Coto and Ethel Louisa nee Jackson was one of three brothers to attend the College, the others being Ralph Jackson Coto (1908-1993) and Alexander James COTO (1909-1942).

John came to Geelong College to study between 1927 and 1930 after attending Warrnambool High School. At College, he was a member of the 1st Football XVIII and 1st Rowing VIII in 1930 and a member of the Athletics Team for three years from 1928 to 1930. The Alexander and John Coto Memorial Prize is named in memory of John and his brother, Alexander James Coto (1909-1942), who was killed in World War II.
