COUNCIL OF THE GEELONG COLLEGE


The currently structured Council of The Geelong College was first constituted in 1908 and held its first meeting on 27 March 1908.

An earlier committee of management had been formed when the College was first established. It met from 18 April 1861 to 16 June 1864. Members at the first meeting in 1861 were John Calvert, James Simson, James Cowie, James Balfour, A S Robertson, William Blair, J T McKerras, Rev A Love, Rev Alexander J Campbell, James Henderson, Rev T McK Fraser and James Campbell. The Rev A J Campbell chaired that first meeting as well as a majority of the committee meetings until mid-1864.

In 1982, the School was incorporated with the Uniting Church holding the College property in trust. With this change, councillors of the College acquired the formal responsibilities of Company Directors.
