EDGAR, Waldene Philip Swan (1899-1978)


'Dene' Edgar was born at Kadnook Station, Harrow, on 10 February 1899, the son of John Thomas Edgar and Margaret nee Swan. He was educated at Scotch College from 1911 until 1914, and then enrolled at Geelong College as a boarder on 1 June 1915. His entry address was 'Arrunga', Mornington. He was a member of the Athletics Team in 1916 and left College in December 1916.

He was in England with Australian Cadets at the outbreak of the Great War, served as a Cadet on coastal work from 1914 until 1917.

Waldene Edgar married Marjorie Mary Woods in 1941.

He died on 1 August 1978.

Two of his brothers, Ronald Swan Edgar (1887-1917) and Ian Swan Edgar (1889-1984) were also educated at Geelong College.
