SHANNON HOUSE


Shannon House is part of the Senior School House System and was named after Mr Charles Shannon. Its competition colour is Dark Blue.

One of the foremost Olympians of the 1948 Helsinki and 1952 Melbourne Olympics, Russell Mockridge, who won 2 gold medals in cycling was a member of Shannon House, as was Olympic Swimmer Peter Doak. Noted Test cricketers, Lindsay Hassett was Shannon House Captain in 1931-32 as was Paul Sheahan AM in 1963. Don Webb OAM, musician and conductor was a House Prefect in 1965. Members also included author, D J Embling ; Test cricketer Ian Ritchie Redpath MBE; and musician and conductor Voon Chong Lim.

Kate Stevenson in 1982 was the first female Shannon House Captain.
