YOUNG, Frank Stuart (1892-1959)


Frank Stuart Young was the youngest of three brothers born to Thomas Young and his wife Catherine nee Jenkins to attend Geelong College. He was born on 15 June 1895 at Horsham and boarded at Geelong College from 1906 to 1910. He was a member of the 1909 and 1910 1st Football XVIII and the Athletics Teams of 1908 and 1909.

A biographical entry in Early Pioneer Families of Victoria and Riverina described him: 'born Horsham, Vic 17th June 1892. Educated Geelong College. Joined firm of Young Brothers, Horsham in 1911, and established the moter department of that firm. In 1913 joined firm of Dennys, Lascelles Ltd, moter department, in capacity of manager at Melbourne and later in Geelong. In 1915 resumed position with Young Brothers as manager of motor department, ... . Married on 3rd September 1919, Eliuzabeth Anne daughter of Dr John Gratton Wilson and the late Frances Alexander Wilson (nee Symons), late of 'Farnhyam Park', Warrnambool and 'Iluka' Yuulong.' They had three children.

He died at Alphington on 27 April 1959.

Frank's brothers, Robert James Young (1877-1939) and John Wilkie Young (1889-1980) were also educated at Geelong College.
