Subjects will only proceed if minimum class numbers are reached via the selection process.
French, Chinese (Mandarin) and Latin assume previous knowledge from Year 9. LOTE can be counted as an Art or Humanities.
Students will study at least two semesters of Arts studies and two semesters of Humanities study. VCE studies drawn from these categories will be considered to meet this condition.
A Learning Enrichment group may be formed to replace one elective and, if this is considered appropriate, you will be invited in writing by the school. Similarly, EAL students may undertake a course to replace one elective.
Students choosing Music Performance should realise that whilst this elective does not include individual tuition for an instrument, it is assumed that study of an instrument occurs concurrently.
All students are reminded that subjects may not be altered once the academic year has commenced.
VCE subjects may or may not proceed and this will depend upon the number of students who select an elective and whether the timetable is able to accommodate student choices. If a VCE study is selected it will replace one of the other Year 10 electives. If a VCE Humanities study is selected, it will replace a Humanities elective. If an Art study is selected, it will replace an Art elective.
Students and parents are reminded that acceleration in a Unit 1 and 2 study in Year 10 does not guarantee a place in an acceleration Unit 3 and 4 subject in Year 11. All such requests are subject to selection criteria and availability of places.
