All students will study the Core Subjects listed below. In addition, students will study Elective Subjects, these are either full-year or semester-length. The courses allocated will total the equivalent of 3 full-year or 6 semesters.

A minimum number of students is required for a subject to proceed.
French, Chinese (Mandarin), and Latin assume prior studies have been undertaken in Year 9.
Students will study at least two semesters of Arts studies and two semesters of Humanities study. VCE studies drawn from these categories will contribute to meeting this condition.
If a Language study is chosen, it can be counted in lieu of meeting an Art or Humanities minimum requirement.
If you are invited by the College to participate a Learning Enrichment group, this subject will replace one elective. Similarly, EAL students may undertake a course to support language development in replacement of one elective.
Individual tuition for an instrument is not included in Music subjects. However, it is assumed that study of an instrument occurs concurrently.
Subjects cannot be altered by students once the academic year has commenced.
The College has discretion over whether classes of VCE subjects will proceed. Many factors are considered, including: the number of students who select the subject and the ability to meet student preferences in the confines of the timetable. If a VCE study is selected it will replace one of the other Year 10 electives. If a VCE Humanities study is selected, it will replace a Humanities elective. If an Art study is selected, it will replace an Art elective.
Acceleration in a Unit 1 and 2 study in Year 10 does not guarantee a place in an accelerated Unit 3 and 4 subject in Year 11. All such requests are subject to the student meeting the selection criteria as well as the availability of places.
The allocated electives will be displayed on the Student Portal in early November. Changes to subject preferences may be requested at this time by:
making contact with the Deputy Head of SS (Mr M Taylor) to discuss the change alongside timetabling restrictions for subsequent requests
complete a ‘Change of Subject Form’ collecting the necessary signatures of staff as directed by the Deputy Head of SS (for all VCE subjects this will include the Careers Office)
return the ‘Change of Subject Form’ to the Deputy Head of SS
Subject change requests will be considered dependent upon the stage at which the development of the timetable is at and it must be understood that class sizes and other timetabling considerations will often prevent changes being made.
Students will be advised of the success of their application prior to the end of the school year. Change of Subjects requests received during the school holiday will be dealt with in the last week of school holidays. All students are reminded that subject changes may not be altered once the academic year has commenced.
